Heh, yes, you've guessed it, I'm still exhausted ;) And I'd like to give a formal apology for taking an age to catch up on everything this time. *yawns* I wanted to sleep for a week by the time I fell into bed last night. But yes, like I said, it was worth it for the wonderful weekend we had! And thank you to everyone who sent comments and emails with anniversary wishes, they were much appreciated :) xxxxxx
Three whole years. Who would have thought it? The time has flown by so quickly. It's been the best 3 years of my life, and that's no lie. And the weekend lived up to that standard as well. First of all, I can finally - F-I-N-A-L-L-Y - write about Y's birthday presents.
Do you know what I got him?
For the last 6 months we've had more than a passing interest in Pirelli calendars. You know the ones - the ones that are supposed to advertise tyres but are really an excuse to take pictures of naked woman? Well, we've been watching 'The Making Of' segments on fashion TV and decided that we really, really wanted to get one. However, they are always a limited run and only sent to various fashion companies and so on. We didn't think we'd ever get one.
Enter Ebay.....
It took me hours to track one down online. An affordable one, at least. Some of them were going for anything up to 600. But luckily I found a few in a better price range. A few of them were rubbish - from arty years with no real nudity. But then I tracked down one from 1995 - and that was a *good* year. So there I sat, putting in bids and waiting for the evening, and - bingo! - I won! I danced around the room doing fake instruments with my hands in joy. And during my tracking down of calendars I also stumbled upon a video about the first 25 years of the Pirelli calendar so I snapped that up for him too.
The only problem was that when the calendar arrived it was, erm, big.
A2 sized.
A 5 hour train journey with that object was not going to be easy. Argh!
I also bought him an Asia Argento poster. That alone took 6 hours tracking down because the only ones I could find online were ones for XXX and they were crap. I wanted one of Asia more or less alone. In the end I managed to get one that exceeded my expectations. A poster for B Monkey, the film Y suggested I watch to discover the beauty of Asia Argento. It was ideal.
With the 'Big 3', plus cards and a bunch of little surprises, not to mention Anniversary presents and a Tweenies easter egg, I set off on my train journey on Thursday, laden down and wishing that there hadn't been QUITE so many celebrations falling at once! The journey there and back were eventful enough, and I'm going to write about them in more detail tomorrow. They included a fist fight, children on the tracks and people who needed a joke to be explained to them at least 3 times. Oh, and the word 'wazzock'! I'd never heard it used in general conversation until yesterday.
For now though I'm off to eat something before I doze off. Tomorrow night I will have tales of trains and stuff, and *far* more interesting things to say than tonight!
Oh - and I think a friend of saddam the Spider has moved in.
This time it's black and yellow, it buzzes and it has a rather nasty sting - but more of that tomorrow too ;)
